A data switch is a networking device that provides an interconnection point for multiple, local computers. Using Ethernet, computers connected to a data switch can communicate and share data with other computers that are also attached to the switch. A switch is different from a data hub. The switch provides greater bandwidth and better traffic control on the network than a hub.
